Equine Wellness

Wellness: The state of being healthy and disease-free

At Pacific Crest Equine, we strive to do the very best for our equine patients. The most effective way for our veterinarians to achieve this is to work with you, the horse-owner, to implement a pro-active approach to health and wellness. The goal is to recognize MINOR problems BEFORE they become MAJOR problems by addressing the needs of your horses in a timely manner. Our doctors like to focus on client education because the more time we spend with you and your horse, the better our chances of avoiding problems, and the greater our chance of successful treatment when problems do arise.

Our wellness programs are designed to meet the needs of your horse for a one-year period. All wellness programs include two veterinarian visits for the year. The first visit can occur any time of year. Please call ahead for availability and to schedule your appointment. The second wellness visit will occur approximately 6 months after your initial wellness visit. By signing up for one of our wellness programs you will receive a 20% discount compared to paying for all of the services contained in our wellness program individually.

We have three separate programs tailored to fit the needs of your horse as an individual. Stop worrying about ordering your own vaccines, who to call for a dental, and what kind of dewormer you should use. Let the licensed veterinarians and friendly staff at Pacific Crest Equine take care of your horse’s needs in the coming year. It’s what we do!

Wellness programs are nonrefundable, nontransferable, and included items cannot be omitted for discount or substituted.

Any farm call fees are not included in the cost of your wellness program. We do offer a variety of discounted farm call days on our field service days. Also as always, no farm call fee is incurred if you bring your horse to our hospital facility. Please see our PCE Field Services days.

Please take a moment to decide which program would be best for you and your horse. From the pasture pet to the highest-level performance horse, every animal has needs to keep them healthy and happy. Consider your horse’s activity level and your expectations, then chose from one of the following four options:

Adult Horse Essentials ($430)

This is a general-health option designed for the quiet companion horse, horses at a low level of work and/or for the horse owner on a budget. This option is also excellent for senior horses who often require additional care as they age. The discounted testing for Equine Cushing’s disease is also valuable for our senior horses as this disease is common in horses over 15 years of age. In addition to a regular physical exam twice a year, each exam will include a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation. A Complete Blood Count and Chemistry panel will serve as a general assessment of overall health. Foot radiographs are a standard part of the performance horse wellness program and can be very beneficial to your farrier. A Coggins test is also included to accommodate the traveling athlete.
